Iraq, Benghazi, George Will, Redskins

Watch the show.

The biggest story this week is the situation in Iraq. While the group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and prezzo stendra online Syria, or ISIS, advances toward Baghdad, Iran is joining forces with its Shia neighbors in Iraq to oppose the address terrorists. This week, President Obama announced that he’ll be sending in 300 American military advisers. What are we missing about this situation?

Also this week, U.S. Special Forces nabbed Ahmed Abu Khattala, the main suspect in the 2012 attack on U.S. Personnel in Benghazi, Libya. But some point out that the reason it took so long was that Khattala was treated as a criminal, which meant that the U.S. had to wait for the legal system to run its course. If he had been treated as an enemy combatant, the U.S. could have killed him immediately with a precision strike. Is Khattala a criminal or an enemy combatant?

Another story making headlines this week was that the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has dropped syndicated columnist George Will because of a recent column that discussed, in part, sexual assault on college campuses. The Post-Dispatch said: “The change has been under consideration for several months, but a column published June 5, in which Mr. Will suggested that sexual assault victims on college campuses enjoy a privileged status, made the decision easier. The column was offensive and inaccurate; we apologize for publishing it.” Was the Post-Dispatch taking will out of context?

Finally, another major story was that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office revoked the trademark of the Washington Redskins, saying the ithu.se cialis name was offensive at the time it was applied for. The decision is pending appeal.

Independent writer Yasmine Bahrani, journalist Gregory Clay, political consultant Marcio Coimbra, and PhD candidate James Hedrick discuss these issues.
